General Information


The Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC) was created in 1937 to help provide public housing and services for low-income families in Baltimore. It is the fifth largest public housing authority in the country, with over 600 employees. Right now, HABC owns and manages 8,236 public housing units in 15 different areas.
HABC helps more than 19,500 households through programs like public housing, the Housing Choice Voucher Program, and the Rental Assistance Demonstration Program (RAD). Recently, HABC got approval to convert 4,128 units in 26 areas through RAD.
