The Access Partnership (TAP) of Johns Hopkins Medicine aims to provide access to effective, compassionate, evidence-based primary and specialty care for uninsured and underinsured residents of the East Baltimore community with demonstrated financial need.

The TAP Navigator is the clinic staff member who will help you understand your eligibility for the program. If you are eligible, the Navigator will help make your appointments.

Once the patient's referral for specialty care or diagnostic care has been approved, the patient is required to pay a non-refundable $20 participation fee. The specialty/diagnostic appointments will not be made until this fee is paid.Audience:

The best way to connect with TAP is to establish primary care at a participating primary care site in the community, BMS, Esperanza Center, Chase Brexton or Healthcare for the Homeless. The referral process to TAP is through primary care. Patients receive a referral to specialty care, if the specialty referral is approved for medical necessity the patient is invited to apply for TAP with a designated TAP navigator who helps with enrollment and appointments. Patients are enrolled for six months at a time and can renew, as needed. TAP eligibility is determined by medical and financial need. TAP provides specialty care at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Go the website where the different clinic locations for different specialties will be listed and choose the appropriate clinic for you.

First, you will need to show proof of your income and where you live to determine eligibility. If you are eligible for the program and your primary care doctor refers you to a specialist, the TAP Navigator (check the TAP Navigator service page) will guide you through this process. The medical director will make sure your referral is medically necessary. The TAP Navigator will ask you to pay a $20 fee to participate in the program every three months. You will be asked to prove your eligibility every 6 months.Languages
