Civic Engagement for Beginning English Language Learners
(CE-BELL)About
This is a Spanish Language version of theCivics&Citizenship Program for the low levels of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) students. The CE-BELL program is for young immigrants and is all in Spanish. It helps them feel inspired to dream big and see all the great chances they have in this country.
Civics & Citizenship
About
This is an after-school community involvement program. The program wants young people to get involved in their community, so they know they are important. This helps kids go to school more often, feel more interested in learning, and feel better about themselves. The program is free for young people, and it gives them a meal at each meeting and pays for their rides.
Opportunities Plus
About
Opportunities Plus helps low-income, legal immigrant youth who are 15 to 21 years old. It gives them six to eight week internships with local businesses, government offices, and nonprofit groups. Before the internships start, the youth take a job skills workshop. There, they learn how to make a cover letter, a resume, and how to do well in interviews. During the internship, the program gives them money to help pay for food and transportation since the internships don’t usually pay.
Civics and Citizenship Junior
About
The goal of C&C Junior is to help young people build skills and attitudes that will help them throughout their lives. By working with immigrant youth before they get to high school, we can help them get ready for the challenges they may face and the choices they will make that will shape their futures. Civics and Citizenship Junior teaches the same main ideas as Civics and Citizenship, but it focuses more on growing as a person and learning important life skills.
