MONSE works to make people feel safe and supported if they've been hurt by violence or abuse. They help people heal, get justice, and make sure they have their rights. MONSE offers many services to help victims and survivors with both short and long-term needs. They focus on helping people recover from trauma and work together with others to stop violence and keep people safe.
MONSE is the first part of Baltimore City to offer help to victims of gun violence. They also think about a bigger group of people as ‘victims’ – not just the people who were hurt, but also anyone who saw the violence, or the friends and family of those affected.
The team helps connect families and individuals to city-wide services when they’ve gone through traumatic or difficult events including services for:
1) Domestic Violence / Intimate Partner Violence, which offers direct access to legal services and referrals to hospital programs, attorneys, mental health programs, and more
2) Human Trafficking, which provides education, helps with state and federal investigations for traffickers, and services for survivors
3) Sexual Assault, in which they partnered with police department and others to review police training, support advocacy, hold case reviews, and educate people
