Ruth’s Closet is a women’s resale store that sells clothes, shoes, and jewelry. The money helps women and children who have faced abuse.

Ruth’s Closet has been raising money for House of Ruth Maryland for over 13 years. You can now shop online at their eBay Charity store for special brands and vintage items.

Emergency Shelter
About
The shelter has a health clinic run by nurses from Johns Hopkins. The clinic helps with medical needs right away. There are also counselors who talk with women and children one-on-one or in groups. They work with the clinic and wellness program to make sure everyone feels supported and cared for.
The shelter has 84 beds and is a wonderful temporary safe place for women and children who are in danger. It helps people heal from abuse and start new lives. Many people also get help learning new skills so they can take care of themselves and stay safe.
A case manager helps with job training, finding work, housing, childcare outside the shelter, money help, doctor visits, therapy, rides to places, and learning life skills. They also help you make a plan to live on your own. A legal team helps with court support, lawyers, and immigration issues.
There is childcare for kids ages 6 weeks to 5 years old while parents are at work, in school, at court, or getting other help. There is also an after-school program for kids ages 6 to 12. It is open Monday through Friday. It stays open until 9:00PM three evenings a week.

Virtual Chatline
About
House of Ruth Maryland’s Chatline is a private and safe way to get help. It is for people who may not be able to call the 24/7 Crisis Hotline. The Chatline can help with most of the same services, except Rapid Rehousing and Emergency Shelter.
The chat is open all year to help with safety and shelter questions. You can talk with a live helper during the hours listed below. To use the chat, click here and go to the chatbox at the bottom right of the page.

Gateway Project and Si Puedo
About
The Gateway Project helps keep people safe from intimate partner violence. It offers group sessions for people who have hurt their partners. These sessions happen once a week for 90 minutes and last for 28 weeks. You can join in person or online.
The program also helps victims by giving safety plans, crisis support, and referrals to other services. Victims can call 410-554-8498 to speak with someone. Staff members are available Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
The Gateway Project also reaches out to victims by phone or letter. This is to share helpful information, offer support, and ask about the abuser's behavior. The victim's safety always comes first. Program staff can only talk about the case if the abuser gives written permission.

Adelante Familia helps Spanish-speaking immigrants in Baltimore. It supports people who are being hurt at home, are in danger, or have hurt someone.
This program is in English and Spanish. You can get help with services, talk to someone, learn new things, and get support.
